Located at an altitude of 2,118 m (6,949 ft) above the sea level, Chakrata in Dehradun District of Uttarakhand State of India is a hill station and a famed tourist destination ideal for mount climbing, trekking and skiing. The town was known earlier as Jaunsarbawar, a small hamlet of Jaunsari tribe.

The forest around Chakrata is habitat to an amazing flora and fauna including panther, spotted deer and wild fowls.Nature lovers, Trekkers, bird watchers and wild life enthusiasts can spend days here in the lap of Chakrata exploiting the nature’s hidden treasures and beauties.

Chakrata was set up to be the summer retreat for the high executives of English East India Company by the British rulers. Currently,Chakrata encloses military cantonment and the access is restricted here for civilian travelers.

The breathtaking views, the conducive weather and the quietude of Chakrata are enough to lure any traveler to visit this place. Although, the place is relatively unexplored and secluded but travelling here is swift and easy as the hill station is well connected with motorable roads.

You can stroll around the village, visit the apple orchards, breathe in the scent of the rhododendrons, pick the wildflowers, enjoy photography and bond with nature itself. You can also have a little chit-chat with the locals to know how life is in the hills or pay obeisance at the small village temples. The town is far and far away from the pollution, humidity and hustle bustle life of the cities.

The adventure lovers can go on a quest into the wild and walk through the dense Deoban Forest located just 4 kms from Chakrata. You can savour the refreshing views of the bubbling natural springs and if lucky, you can spot a few wild animals.

Itinerary

DAY 00

Delhi - Chakrata

We depart from North Delhi in a privately booked AC coach.With amazing icebreaking activities and fun games we will depart for Chakrata, Uttarakhand at around 08:00 PM

Day 01

Reach Chakrata

We will reach and check in to the campsite in Chakrata by morning and explore beautiful places around our campsite and take a walk around to relax and witness the beauty around the campsite with 360 degrees valley view.

After a sumptuous breakfast, we will visit the famous and highest waterfall in that area called Tiger Falls and soak in the beauty and splashes of water falling from 312 feet.

Chilmiri Neck is the highest peak in the town, and thus offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and peaks. You can witness the peaks like Swargarohini and the Badarpoonch from here. Dense forest around ensures a lovely time for the birders. Beautiful birds, colorful, butterflies, and scenic views make it one of must see places in Chilmiri Neck.

We will return back to the campsite after the trek to munch on tasty snacks and evening tea / coffee over bonefire along with some music to dance to.

We will have our dinner and have a star gazing session in the night and sleep overnight in the camps.

Day 02

Chakrata – Delhi

We will wake up early in the morning to witness the beautiful sunrise and after breakfast indulge in the adventure activities like Rappeling and trekking.

We will leave for Delhi by late afternoon to reach Delhi later tonight.
