Meghalaya, a home to Khasi and Garo tribes which are deeply connected to the nature and exceptionally developed and progressive. The tribes are deeply involved in many cultural practices that showcase sustainable and environment-friendly nature along with a gender neutral approach towards life in general. One of the very few places in India, where you will notice the denial of plastic usage to the maximum possible limit in some villages.

The real beauty of Meghalaya lies in the villages and it boasts of the cleanest of the villages in the coutry like Mawlynnong, the proud bearer of the title “cleanest village of Asia”! The Living Roots bridge of Nongriat Village gives you the feeling of being in an unreal dreamland straight our of the story books. Also, the waters in Umngot river is so clear that you could almost see river bed through the waters of the river.

Day 00

Reach Guwahati - Shillong

You are advised to plan your journey to reach Guwahati Airport around noon. Our trip leader will meet you at the Airport and we will start our journey to the capital city of Meghalaya, Shillong at 12 PM.

The most beautiful Umiam Lake welcomes us after a couple of hours drive from Guwahati and we witness the first welcoming tangible beauty of the place. We will take a halt at the lake and thereafter proceed for hotel check-in.

After check-in, we are pretty much to ourselves and can explore the cafes and vibrant markets nearby and the famous Police Bazaar of Shillong. Dinner and Stay at Hotel in Shillong.

Day 01

Shillong – Elephanta Falls - The Sacred Forest – Khasi Heritage Village – Cherrapunji

After breakfast, we will proceed towards the elephanta waterfall and take a halt here to witness the beauty possesed by this waterfall.

We now move to The Sacred Forest. Covering some 192 acres, the Mawphlang Sacred Forest has its roots steeped deep in the age-old religious beliefs, in which forests are regarded as a sacred entity. The local Khasi tribes have been preserving this forest for thousands of years, and have a strict rule “Do not take anything out of forest”. Not even a dry leaf or a twig.

After spending good time with the stories at the Sacred forest, we move to the Khasi Heritage Village that takes you to the core of the Khasi culture and shows the intricate details of the khasi tribe. Thereafter we proceed to Cherrapunji.

We will check-in to the hotel/homestay and have sumptuous dinner over there. Overnight stay there.

Day 02

Cherrapunji – Tyrna – Living Root Bridge – Mawsmai Caves

Our day starts early in the morning today and we embark on the exciting visit to the double decker living root bridge in Nongriat Village. We proceed to Tyrna Village, which is the starting point of the way to Living Root Bridge. The trail leading to the bridge is itself a beautiful journey to be experienced that goes through dense forest and beautiful village and scenic beauty. The place seems to be straight out of some story book which appears to be too unreal and dreamy to exist. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel/homestay.

Day 03

Cherrapunji – Nohkalikai Falls – Seven Sisters Falls – Mawsmai Caves – Laitmawsiang - Cherrapunji

After breakfast and checking out from the hotel today, we proceed to Nohkalikai Waterfall, which is the tallest plunge waterfall in India secretly hidden in the dense forest which makes it a rare gem of the place.

Thereafter, we visit the seven sisters waterfall and enchant ourselves with the music offered to your ears by the water in the fall. The waterfall has a beautiful aura around it that sets your heart racing at the very first sight. We will spend some quality time witnessing the beauty of this waterfall before we move to the Mawsmai Caves.

Next, we move towards the longest cave in the cherrapunji called Mawsmai Caves. These caves have a lot of slippery stones and rocks that we will be crossing to witness its grandeur.

We then move towards the garden of caves, also known as Laitmawsiang, a true paradise in meghalaya which is a quiet piece of land. With all kinds of flora and fauna, it houses a total of fourteen waterfalls that fall into crytal like ponds. This park is perfect escape from the noise of crowded cities into the greens, blues, browns and whites of nature. Dinner and stay at hotel/homestay in Cherrapunji.

Day 04

Cherrapunji – Mawlynnong – Dawki - Shnongpdeng

We will start our day early in the morning to visit Mawlynnong, the cleanest village of Asia. The local people are very much dedicated to keep the village clean and follow the practises religiously. We will take a walk throuh the village to witness it in its truest colors.

Post that, we will move towards Dawki and Shnongpdeng situated at the bank of river Umngot famous for its crystal clear water. We could engage ourselves in the water sports like boating, kayaking in the river. We will stay in the beautiful tents pitched beside the river today with the bonefire to keep us warm and cozy.

Day 05

Shnongpdeng – Krang Suri Waterfall - Guwahati

We will get up with the morning view of gushing river from our tents and move to witness one of the most beautiful and off beat waterfall called Krang Suri falls. Waterfall as blue as Sky itself before its first encounter with your eyes, informs you of its presence with the roaring music from gushing waters.

After witnessing Krang Suri with all its grandeur, we will leave for Guwahati to reach there by late afternoon. Travellers will be dropped to the Airport/Railway Station bidding each other a goodbye to embark on the onwards journey which could be booked in the evening or later tonight according to their own convinience.
